Doncaster Build
Doncaster Build is a Borough-wide initiative, the ethos and the mission of which is 'Local Jobs For Local People'.
Doncaster Build is a 'one stop shop' approach, which acts as a catalyst for organisations to work in partnership ensuring that the borough derives maximum benefit from the coordination of new initiatives and developments, funding, facilities and expertise.
The aim of Doncaster Build is to assist all residents within the Borough to access construction training and employment. The one stop with a dedicated hotline facilitates ease of access, thus allowing the opportunity to engage with priority groups who are furthest from the labour market and who would find it difficult to meet the minimum requirements of trainee selection through the normal construction training application process.
Doncaster Build acts as a strategic umbrella, which coordinates both mainstream employability policies (i.e. New Deal for Employment, Employment Zone, Work Based Learning for Adults etc.) and local workforce development initiatives, alongside both public and private sector funding.
The programme links to mainstream provision and aims to provide a seamless and coordinated approach to recruitment and training. This centralised service for the industry changes the "who you know" culture into "where you go" regardless of background, current status, age or postcode.
The Doncaster Build Programme is a partnership of organisations covering the full spectrum of construction activity which includes, Doncaster Council, LSC, Job Centre Plus, CITB, DEC, Doncaster College, Objective One, Yorkshire Forward, E. C Harris, H B Training, Lifetime, Bramall Construction, Ways 2 Work, NDC, Doncaster Chamber, BESY, SY Construction COVE, JET, South Yorkshire Construction Training Group, Frank Haslam Milan, RSY, and A4E.
