Pie Maker Opens in Frenchgate

Monday 14th November 2011

The Topping Pie Company has opened a new outlet in Doncaster's Frenchgate shopping centre, creating six jobs.

The pie maker, which has a 50-year history in its home town, will start trading from tomorrow (15 November 2011).

Roger Topping, managing director of The Topping Pie Company, said: "When my father, Bill Topping, opened our original butchers shop in Scawsby, near Doncaster in 1961, little did he know that it was the start of a multi award winning company whose products would one day grace the counters of Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.

"He moved the shop to the Doncaster Market Hall a decade later to accommodate a growing customer base and he is delighted to see our pies on sale today in the hub of Doncaster's town centre."

The company started as a small Doncaster family butchers and now employs 50 people, with customers including Asda, Booths and The Co-operative.
