Plumbing business Pegler Yorkshire, part of the global Aalberts Industries NV Group, has expanded its operations into the Middle East.

The Doncaster based company said an office in Dubai has been opened to meet demand from the plumbing industry in the region.

Pegler Yorkshire, established more than 100 years ago, said it was a considered decision to open in the Middle East.

"As part of the company's strategic objectives to continually grow the business it was recognised that the Middle East is one area in which there was a huge demand for our products and service," said managing director Stuart Anderson.

"Dubai is the ideal location for our first office which provides the essential functions of sales and marketing.

"The high manufacturing standards of which Pegler Yorkshire adhere to, coupled with our continual innovation in product development and customer focused service, has placed us in an ideal position to provide both the Souk market and project managers and contractors with the products and systems required for any domestic or commercial project."

In the year to 31 December 2010, turnover at Pegler soared up to £153.6m – an 8 per cent rise from £142m in 2009, while pre-tax profit rose to £10.8m.
