Thursday 24th November 2011

First-half pre-tax profit at MS International (MSI) has risen to £4.1m after a "compelling" performance, the Doncaster-based engineering business has revealed.

Allowing for an exceptional gain of £1.25m in 2010, the company said first-half pre-tax profit had increased by 60 per cent.

For the six months to 29 October, MSI reported revenue of £27.9m – up from £25.3m in 2010.

The company's defence division posted strong first-half results, according to MSI, while its forgings division continued to make an "encouraging recovery", with increased revenue and profitability.

MSI's petrol station superstructures was also said to have flourished since becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of the group.

"As we enter the second half of the year, overall the group is in good shape," said Chairman Michael Bell.

"The balance sheet is strong and the order book is better balanced over the three divisions than has been the case for some considerable time."
