Boxing Day Shoppers Reminded of White Rose Way Closure

Work on White Rose Way continues over the Christmas weekend with road closures affecting eager shoppers seeking early bargains on Boxing Day.

The A6182 White Rose Way (WRW) extends from Junction 3 of the M18 south of Doncaster to the A18 Carr House Road.

As the main north/south route to the south of Doncaster, the existing road has insufficient capacity for the current traffic flows.

A key element of the scheme is a new bridge across the East Coast Mainline which must be constructed during closures of the railway to meet Network Rail requirements.

Closures of this nature can only be arranged two years in advance of the proposed work and closures will take place this weekend at the following times:

21:00 Sunday 24th December 2011 to 06:00 27th December 2011 - for the installation of the main bridge beams over the east coast main line.

Further road closures will take place in the New Year:

Monday 9th January 2012 (21:00 – 06:00) - for re-erection of street lighting and signs.

Tuesday 10th January 2012 (21:00 – 06:00) - for re-erection of street lighting and signs.

During these times, shoppers approaching Lakeside Village from Junction 3 of the A1 will be affected and must follow diversions put in place.

The benefits of the road works include reduced congestion; improved safety; improved pedestrian and cycle facilities; improved access to Robin Hood Airport and Lakeside development and will promote further economic development in the area.

Full details of the diversion plans are available via the PDF document below.
