Redline Aviation Security Ltd opens Office in Ghana
Redline Aviation Security, based at Robin Hood Airport, recently announced that it has opened a regional office in Ghana, West Africa, in preparation for the launch of a National Aviation Security Academy.
Following extensive preparation, in partnership with Yahuda Security Services, Redline is expanding their industry leading style of innovative aviation security training into Africa. Yahuda is a Ghanaian based consultancy with whom Redline have formed a strategic alliance in order to bring a range of global experience and expertise to the Sub-Saharan region of Africa.
Ghanais seen as the ideal start point for this project as it is globally recognised for its’ stable and forward thinking government. Ghana’s’ national watchdog, the Ghanaian Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) is modelled closely on the UKs’ own CAA and Department for Transport (DfT) and therefore it is envisaged that an integrated security training programme will work well in the region.
The first courses are planned to commence in October 2009. Redline and Yahuda will run an Aviation Security Managers’ course in Accra that is based on the UK DfT mandated syllabus, but tailored specifically to the region and continent. Other courses that will be delivered this year will include the Threat Assessors course.
”Participation will be invited from all the nations in the West African region” said Jules Lark, the Security Operations manager for Redline. “Working closely with Yahuda Security, we have identified some areas key to the security of aviation in the region” Ms Lark said at The National Aviation Academy in Doncaster.
“Redline is unique in that we have a specialist Company Threats Officer, Helen Gripton. Helen adds a considerable capability in assessing regional threats and countering them” said James Termini, the Business Director for Redline. “Helen joins Redline having served as an Intelligence Officer in the Royal Air Force and so compliments our team”
The Redline/Yahuda partnership was sealed in Accra between Dr Ebenezer Tetteh, the CEO of Yahuda (a well respected member of the Ghanaian community) and Mr Paul Mason, the Managing Director of Redline. Dr Tetteh was quoted as saying “This is a medium to long term programme with potential capacity to build the professionalism of security personnel, promote and create jobs in the sector”.
