The prestigious Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business awards is a celebration of the best companies in this enterprising region.

The 2009 ceremony took place on the 16^th October at the Queens Hotel in Leeds and one of the nominations was Doncaster’s very own Topping Pie Company.

Nominated for SME Manufacturer of the Year, The Topping Pie Company came under ‘the best of the rest’, as the Doncaster company sought to take advantage of bigger retailers wanting locally supplied, high quality traditional niche products. The company has carried out an expansion programme to help meet this ambition, which has been very successful.

The company demonstrated its Championship credentials early this year in a sponsorship deal with Doncaster Rovers to become the club's official corporate pie partner.

Traditionally handmade, award-winning pies are now to be supplied for corporate events as well as the press box.
